Please click on one of the three tabs below to choose the option which is relevant to you.
Please Note : By submitting your Dating or V765 application to us, you consent to us holding your personal data on this basis.
Expired/Replacement Letters
PLEASE NOTE - We now only accept online applications for Replacement Letters
PLEASE NOTE - For any letters dated pre-February 2015, which we do not hold copies of, and for ones which have other changes e.g. name change etc, you will need to apply via the "FIRST REGISTRATIONS" method (first tab on the left) and pay the full fee.
Under DVLA rules, all Dating Letters now only last for 12 months from the date of issue and DVLA will not accept them for authentication purposes if they are out of date. LCGB will replace any out-of-date letters for £5, providing they are post 1st February 2015 (Reference Number : REO 1000 onwards).
Remember to put the 'REO' Reference from the old letter in the 'Notes' box at the bottom of the form.
Please also remember to attach your full frame number photograph (including prefix) to the email before sending as we now require them digitally for our Database.
In addition to the above, we also require payment. This must be via Paypal ONLY using the link on the RHS (in red) where it says : Pay Here Via Paypal OR by using the link on RHS of the NEXT page along with your online application details.
Please note that we cannot do replacement letters for those which originated from other organisations.
1st Registrations of Imported Vehicles
PLEASE NOTE - We now only accept online applications for First Registrations
This section is for vehicles that have never been registered/authenticated in the UK before or ones where the original number plate cannot re-allocated due to lack of evidence.
The LCGB can supply a dating letter to enable you to apply to the DVLA for an age-related number plate.
Please note that if you are using any of the external professional registrations services to authenticate your Lambretta which are advertised widely, it is advisable to obtain your L.C.G.B. Dating Letter first before submission to them as they may use a rival authentication service or one which is not authorised to do so.
NOTE - You must also send to us a full frame rubbing or photo in electronic form by attaching your picture file to the email. (Sent on the next screen)
In addition to the above, we also require payment. This must be via Paypal ONLY using the link on the RHS (in red) where it says : Pay Here Via Paypal OR by using the link on RHS of the NEXT page along with your online application details.
Please note, we can not process applications at the members price (£12) without a current membership number on the application form.
We will then return your dating letter plus an explanation of what to do next. You will also require an MOT * and Nova to complete your application to DVLA. (MOT and Nova are not required to apply for a dating letter).
*Due to new government legislation introduced on May 20th 2018, MOT is now not required for vehicles over 40 years old (rolling on year to year and that is presently manufactured before 1st January 1983). On First Registration we are advising applicants for first registrations to fill in a V112 form (available from major Postal Offices that do Vehicle Taxations) and submit it along with their V55/5 form. This form (V112) declares the scooter as a “Vehicle of Historic Interest” and will allow Road Tax and MOT exemption. Many people are now still getting an MOT on their scooters for piece of mind, however if it fails it will be classed as unroadworthy and should not be used on the road.
Please note if we cannot read your frame rubbing or make out the stamp on the photograph we cannot process your application and it will be returned to you.
All imported vehicles will require a NOVA form this can be obtained from the NOVA office contact 0300 200 3700. The LCGB have no dealings with HMRC so we can’t supply forms for them.
Claiming back an Old Number plate via the V765 Scheme
PLEASE NOTE - V765 Applications must also be done electronically however your evidence, e.g. the original RF60 Log Book, must be submitted by post for our physical inspection. When submitting your evidence by post, I also require a completed V765 form, 2 x hard photocopies of your evidence, 2 x photocopies of your frame number, 2 x photocopies of your engine number plus two photocopies of two different photos of the scooter. These need to be sent AS WELL AS online digital copies, which will be saved to our database.
The biggest cause of delay with these applications is people not submitting the correct paperwork from the outset.
In order to claim back an old number plate you must have one of the following:
Old RF60 Log Book or Old Style V5
Old Insurance documentation for the vehicle which shows the chassis No.
Pre 1983 MOT Certificate ***PROVIDING IT SHOWS THE CHASSIS NUMBER*** if it doesn’t it will not be accepted
Local Council archive document. This must now show the chassis No and Registration No to be accepted.
Any Documentary Evidence that links the chassis No to the number plate.
Please Note DVLA will no longer accept Tax Discs as Evidence. All evidence MUST now show the Chassis No and Registration No that you are claiming and tax discs do not show this.
These are the DVLA acceptable documents. We can’t change them we have to work within their guidelines. If you haven’t got one of the above then you will need to go down the first registrations route.
“Please note that a photo of the number plate screwed to the bike or a photo of someone sat on the bike in 1967 is not acceptable and will mean that your application will be returned”.
Once you have your evidence then you will also require:
A completed V765 form. You can download this from the DVLA website
Two Photographs of the bike – The condition of the bike is not important but it must be complete and original, you can’t use this scheme if all you have is a box of bits but you can use this scheme once the box of bits is built into a bike.
If your bike is tatty and you intend to restore it then you can still apply via this scheme but our advice is to do it before you strip the bike.
A frame rubbing or a photograph of the frame stamp. This is so we can (a) make sure the frame is genuine and the stamp has not been tampered with and (b) to make sure it ties in correctly with the evidence you are providing.
In addition to the above, we also require payment. This must be via Paypal ONLY using the link on the RHS (in red) where it says : Pay Here Via Paypal OR by using the link on RHS of the NEXT page along with your online application details.
Please ensure that you include your :
- FULL Name and FULL Address (including postcode)
- Home and Mobile Phone Number(s)
- Email Address
- LCGB Membership Number (If you are a member)
PLEASE NOTE : That if you click this button and fill out the details on the form that appears, and click the “Email to LCGB” button, YOU MUST STILL send us all the information listed above BY POST in order to complete your application. Failure to send us this information by post will only delay your application until we receive it.
Once you have all this information send it to L.C.G.B. Registrations at the address below, along with TWO photo copies of your evidence AND your original evidence.
I know it has been suggested in other publications that you could scan the original documents but unfortunately DVLA will not accept this as scans can be doctored. We have to see the original evidence.
We understand that documents for the V765 scheme are better sent by Recorded or Special Delivery. This is fine but please keep your senders receipt in case you need to follow it up. We will return the completed application to you by the same method that you sent it to us. Please remember this may delay your application as we may have to go to the post office to collect your paperwork and again to send it back.
Once we receive the paperwork we will process the documents and return them to you confirming that we have carried out all the checks and that we are happy with your application. You can then send this off to DVLA and they will handle it from there.
You will also require a V55/5 form to add to your application (we do not need this but you need to submit it to DVLA with your application)
N.B. There is no DVLA fee for a V765 application
The address for V765 registration applications sent by post is:
LCGB Registrations, 9 Buttercup Lane, East Ardsley, Wakefield, WF3 2LU
